The time has come for the Dallas Stars to host the 2018 NHL Draft. In a press release on Saturday, July 29th, it was officially announced that the city of Dallas (along with the Dallas Stars) will be holding the 2018 Draft at American Airlines Center.
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said the following about hosting the draft: “On behalf of the city of Dallas, thank you to Commissioner Gary Bettman and the National Hockey League for selecting our city to host the 2018 NHL Draft. The Draft will generate an estimated $14 million in economic impact as we welcome fans from all 31 NHL clubs, members of the hockey community, and potential draftees and their families from countries around the world. Our city being granted this honor is yet another example of how Dallas continues to be one of the most sought-after locations to host first-class events.”
According to the press release, the draft will take place over two days with round one taking place on Friday, June 22, and rounds two through seven taking place on Saturday, June 23. Hosting the draft will be the perfect touch to the Stars celebrating their 25th year anniversary.
