The Roadrunners were unable to pull off a comeback against the Ontario Reign on Sunday night for their teddy bear toss game. They lost in regulation for only the fourth time this season.

Early in the first period, Ontario got out to a 2-0 lead Tucson with goals from Michael Mersh and Justin Auger.

Kyle Capobianco, who was recalled by the Coyotes on Monday, put Tucson on the board with his second goal of the season and down came the teddy bears.

T.J. Hensick added to the Reign’s lead late in the second and once again at the start of the third, making it 4-1 Ontario.

Jens Looke cut Ontario’s lead in half with his second goal of the season but Tucson couldn’t quite mount a comeback.

The teddy bear toss was the second annual one for the Roadrunners and all of the stuffed animals are being donated to local children’s hospitals and charities.

The Roadrunners and Reign face off again tonight at 7:05pm for the rematch.
