As the designated hockey-in-Seattle person here at Puck It Up, we have another update! This time, a list of 39 domain names with 14 possible team names were registered and we have the details for you.

Last week, Clark Rasmussen over at came across a list of domains that had been registered with the name Seattle in them. While this wouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary in a normal situation, the name of the person who registered them was the interesting part: Christina Song. Rasmussen reports that on her LinkedIn page she works at the Oak View Group. It appears we have a Nancy Drew on our hands.

The registered domains are interesting in the least. With so many sports team in the world, it’s hard to come up with something new and exciting to brand yourself with. But personally, I think the list is pretty decent. As a fan, it’s important to realize that nothing official has happened and that all of these could mean nothing. This is all just speculation about a team that doesn’t even exist yet.

The list of possible names are as followed:

  • Seattle Cougars
  • Seattle Emeralds
  • Seattle Evergreens
  • Seattle Firebirds
  • Seattle Kraken
  • Seattle Rainiers
  • Seattle Renegades
  • Seattle Sasquatch
  • Seattle Sea Lions
  • Seattle Seals
  • Seattle Sockeyes
  • Seattle Totems
  • Seattle Whales

It’s possible that this could mean something or this could mean nothing, but it’s interesting that a member of the Oak View Group was the one to purchase the domains. Personally, I’d love to see the Seattle Kraken or the Seattle Sockeyes. Why? Well, the Seattle Kraken just sounds really cool and the Seattle Sockeyes is a reference to the city.
