Top Shelf Pours is back, back, back again and this time it’s Detroit vs. the world. The Detroit Redwings ended up in 27th place this season with 73 points. While it might not be their best season, the silver lining is that they weren’t in last place. Red Wings fans, check it out!

One beer: Detroit Beer Co. Broadway Light Lager. Since the other two drinks on this list are a bit on the heavier side, I’m going to start off with a light beer. Lagers are good for people who might not want to drink a darker ale or don’t want to feel weighed down from both a greasy dinner and dark beer. This is also a great option if you don’t really know much about beers and might be overwhelmed while holding up the line at the game.

One mixed drink: Detroit Old Fashioned. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t even know a Detroit Old Fashioned even existed before doing a little research. And you’re probably asking yourself that same question I asked myself: what exactly makes it a Detroit Old Fashioned? The answer: some Vernor’s ginger ale! An Old Fashioned is a timeless drink and definitely one that people like. Adding a little bit of ginger ale gives it a different texture that some people really enjoy.

One wine: The Detroit Vineyards 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon. Since this is the Red Wings, I had to go with a red wine. Cabernet Sauvignon is the most popular red wine out there and with good reason. Because it’s a dry wine, it’s perfect to pair with food. Literally anything, if you ask me. Pairing this with some fries or even a hot dog at a hockey game might sound crazy to some people, but it totally works.

And that wraps up this edition of Top Shelf Pours! How did we do in regards to the Red Wings? As always, let us know what you think by sounding to us @puckitupblog on Twitter!
